If not for a British sea captain, Charles Darwin might have been little more than a clergyman who liked to collect bugs. But when Darwin agreed to accompany Captain Robert FitzRoy aboard the HMS Beagle in 1828, history was changed. It was that voyage that inspired Darwin's later writings on evolution.
