When the U.S. needed the atomic bomb to put an end to World War Two, it was J. Robert Oppenheimer who led the development of the weapon. To many Americans Oppenheimer was a national hero. Imagine the shock, then, when the government turned on Oppenheimer, accused him of being a security risk, and ruined him. Harvard historian Priscilla McMillan retells the dramatic episode in her book "The Ruin of J. Robert Oppenheimer."
