When Senator Joseph McCarthy went on his hunt for communists in the early 1950s, he set a tone that has lasted to the present day, says journalist and commentator Haynes Johnson. Listen to the current political rhetoric -- substitute the word "terrorism" for the word "communism," Johnson says, and it's startling, and unsettling for a man who remembers the troubles his father, the Pulitzer prize-winning Malcolm Johnson, suffered. Johnson's book is called The Age of Anxiety.
