The race to map the human genome is not just a story of science, but of competition among scientists, and of competition between the public good and private profit. One of the key competitors in the race was Nobel laureate Sir John Sulston, who led the British team on the Human Genome Project. His book is co-authored with science writer Georgina Ferry.
