Imagine learning, at age 13, that you had a sibling no one ever talked about. Molly Bruce Jacobs found out, in 1970, that she had a sister named Anne, who was born with hydrocephalus, and who lived in an institution. After years of trying to make sense of her wealthy parents' decision to send Anne away -- and later refusal to have any contact with her -- Jacobs finally sought out her sister in the early 1990s, meeting her for the first time when both women were in their 30s. Jacobs writes about her strange journey in her book Secret Girl.
