In the mid 1940s a teenager in suburban Chicago has a rare opportunity to caddy for golf legend Ben Hogan, in a new novel by veteran writer John Coyne. It's only a practice round before a major tournament, but there is nevertheless plenty of drama, as Coyne shows in his book "The Caddie Who Knew Ben Hogan."

John Coyne is the author of more than twenty nonfiction and fiction books, including a number of horror novels. His short stories have been collected in "best of" anthologies such as Modern Masters of Horror and The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror. Coyne became one of modern horror fiction's "brand name" writers with the publication of his first novel, The Piercing, in 1978. He followed this up with a number of other horror novels, including bestsellers such as The Legacy and Hobgoblin, before cutting back on genre writing in the mid 1980s. A former Peace Corps Volunteer and a life-long lover of golf, Coyne has edited and written a number of books dealing with both subjects, including his novels The Caddie Who Knew Ben Hogan and The Caddie Who Played With Hickory.
