Early 20th century Colonial India is the lush backdrop for the debut novel by the Bombay-born Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi, called "The Last Song of Dusk." Although Publishers Weekly has dubbed it a novel of "magic realism," Shanghvi rejects that label, instead regarding it as something at once more mundane and more profound.
