In the summer of 1995, a quiet neighborhood in a suburb of Detroit was upset by the discovery that someone in their midst had built something dangerous: a homemade nuclear breeder reactor, running literally in a backyard garden shed. When the feds found out, they brought in hazmat crews and used EPA Superfund money to get rid of the device. But the most astounding part of the story is who built the device. As Ken Silverstein tells us in this book, it was a teenager -- a Boy Scout.
