A phone call in the middle of the night brings an important piece of news to private eye Elvis Cole, in this Robert Crais mystery. The phone call is from a police officer, telling Elvis that an apparently homeless man who was shot in an alley claimed, with his dying breath, to be Elvis' long-lost father. If true, this is the information Elvis has waited a very long time for.
