Years ago, there were kids in school who endured taunting and teasing for being the, quote, "slow" or "dumb" kids. We now know that many of those children simply had learning disabilities -- or, as the preferred term now puts it, "learning differences." One of those with differences, including dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, and several other afflictions, was a girl named Charlotte, the eldest child of famed fashion designer Dana Buchman and her husband. Buchman now writes about her daughter, and how Charlotte changed her family, in a book called A Special Education.
