In 2003, Norma Khouri wrote a book about her friendship in Jordan with a woman named Dalia, a Muslim woman who fell in love with a Catholic man, and whose family killed her when they found out about the forbidden romance. Khouri's book, a scathing indictment of "honor killings," became a world bestseller, published in the U.S. under the title Honor Lost. But now the title has an unintentionally ironic meaning, because there is evidence that seems to indicate that Norma Khouri fabricated the story.
