Guilt by association is what sent Malika Oufkir, her mother, and her five siblings to a Moroccan prison in 1972. Malika's father, a Moroccan general, had led an unsuccessful coup attempt -- he was executed, his family imprisoned. This, after Malika had enjoyed a childhood of extraordinary privilege and comfort, as the "adopted" daughter of the King. The family's long prison exile -- and the dramatic story of their escape -- are told in Malika Oufkir's book.
