In the mid 1800s, as the U.S. was torn by Civil War, in Paris there was another war brewing, over art. A daring group of young painters was experimenting with something that would come to be known as Impressionism, but they were meeting fierce opposition from an art establishment that wanted nothing to do with their new way of painting. Ross King now writes about this era, in his book "The Judgment of Paris."
