The Broadway musical is a uniquely American invention, and for a hundred years has both reflected and shaped American culture -- and has made hundreds of performers major stars. Broadway is greater than the sum of its parts, according to a PBS television miniseries and its companion book. Co-authors of the book are writer, director, and producer Michael Kantor and NYU arts professor Laurence Maslon.
