The subway bombings in London were shocking not just for the immediate loss of life, but for the realization that suicide attacks have arrived in the west. This is no surprise to Robert Pape, a University of Chicago political scientist who has been studying suicide terrorism since the 2001 attacks. In fact, Pape assembled a first-of-its-kind database on suicide terrorism, and reached some startling conclusions. He reports on his findings in this book.
