America's racial, ethnic and gender differences have always been a staple of popular entertainment, according to a new book, even in today's enlightened, politically-correct times. Journalist John Strausbaugh shows, for example, how blackface has influenced rock music, Broadway, and even gangsta lit. And in writing his book "Black Like You" Strausbaugh had to accept the reality that he would have to describe his findings in the language of the day, even when those terms can't be used in polite company anymore.
