But in 2004, investigative journalists Mark Fainaru-Wada and Lance Williams of the San Francisco Chronicle broke the story of the Bay Area Lab Cooperative, or BALCO. And now, in their book Game of Shadows, they lay out the evidence that a few of the biggest names in sports -- including baseball great Barry Bonds -- have drugged their way to the record books.
